In the Northern part of Afghanistan where the majority of the Afghan Turkoman lives, making traditional Turkoman rugs has always been part of their livelihood, whether being the traditional red Afghan in Philpa or Bokhara design from Akhcheh where coarser wool is being used in rich red colours or other finer rugs.
At the beginning of 1992 where a majority of Afghan refugees were placed in Pakistan in the frontier areas particularly in Peshawar and between Pakistan and Afghanistan, a family by the name of Khal Mohd started using good quality wool and dyes in a more intricate traditional Afghan design, which soon became known as Khal Mohd rugs.
We followed the new tradition, using only the highest quality machine spun wool in finer weave and good dyes and managed to achieve a superior quality that we call Khal Mohd rugs which are durable and represent a very good value.
Construction: Cut Pile
Material: 100% Pure Wool
Size: 193 x 130cm
Surface Thickness: 6 - 8 mm
Certificate of authenticity will be provided.
How to care for your rug:
Vacuum regularly to prevent dirt from the surface
If spills occur, do not rub or spread the stain. Simply blot the affected area with a dry cloth or a tissue to absorb the stain and work towards the stain.
Use warm water diluted in clear white vinegar to manage the dyes
It's recommended that you rotate the rug (not too often) to equalize the surface wear
If heavy furniture is placed over the rug, use a protector to avoid damaging the surface of the rug.
If your carpet is of hand-knotted wool, do not worry about furniture indents, simple vacuuming against the pile will prop up the surface once again.
Professional cleaning: Every year, depending on the usage of the rug
